Stopped by the Cops

I was almost home and was driving through a check point manned by the state police,
when they pulled me over. I guess they were bored. Anyhow they asked for various documents for the car and don't you know I couldn't find the registration right off? I had it, I just couldn't find it quickly. They wanted to know the names of my dogs and whether I was married or not etc. I know I mixed up my spanish on them several times. Finally they had all the documents they needed and gave them back to me and all is well. This is the biggest excitment of the day save one.
When I got home and parked the van and got out I noticed that my coolent was leaking, I may have a problem with something will have to keep an eye on it. Maybe take it to a mechanic and get it checked out.
The dogs and I had a great time walking on the beach and playing, a beautiful sunny day all morning and early afternoon. Now it has clouded over, still warm though and that is a relief.

Just one of thousands of examples of why it´s best to have Mexican car plates down here. If you´re going to stay, of course. Glad you didn´t end up in a cell.

Me too, I was getting a bit concerned as I was looking for the documentation they wanted. Of course Texas registration doesn't look like Mx registration, or another U.S. registration, so I am thankful they were satisfied with the document I gave them.

They were bored, why ask about your marital status? Or they the dog's names?
They saw that you were very guera and stopped you to chat. It's that driving while gringo thing.
We have California plates and have only been pulled over once for (supposedly) turning right on red. The cop was discombobulated when Husband got out his Yucatecan DL and he got a good look at my decidedly latina appearance.

regards,
Theresa

Oh, that must have short circuited his mind. He most likely talked that stop over with his buddies for a while. I got the feeling they wanted to donate to their refreshment fund as the one in the background said something about aquas.
Oh well, it gave me something to write about.
